The first half of “Supergirl” season 2 absolutely provided quite a wonderful journey for the character J’onn J’onnz a.k.a. the fake Hank Henshaw. After revealing himself to a small group of people in season 1, he became more of a hero than before, fought out in the field, and even met someone courtesy of M’gann who he legitimately thought was another one of his own kind. Yet, that turned out to not be the case, and she actually a White Martian in disguise — a race he had hatred for because of his past.
She’s doing her best now to show that not all Martians of her kind are evil and terrible to his people, and in helping to save his life, she proved that. Now, the two may be getting some interesting opportunities to move forward … and definitely have a closer relationship. In speaking about that further, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg had the following to say to Entertainment Weekly:
“His relationship with M’gann is an important one over this next batch of episodes … There is some really great stuff for David [Harewood] and Sharon [Leal] that we are really excited about. We love Sharon’s performance and we love seeing David and Sharon together, it’s some of our favorite stuff this season. We’ve been really lucky with our romantic pairings this season and we really think that J’onn and M’gann have a great storyline coming up.”
We’re all for the idea of romance, mostly because we think that the idea of two people from different walks of life coming together is a rather beautiful thing, and absolutely a part of the inclusive message that this show in particular is trying to project to some of the people watching. We just hope that if it happens, they take their time with it and build things along slowly. Think along the lines of Alex and Maggie. Even if we assumed they would be together eventually, we rather appreciated the fact that it did not happen right away and it took a little bit of time to develop into the sort of thing it became.
