We’ve been waiting for there to be a big James Olsen episode of Supergirl season 2 for a while now. Mehcad Brooks is a great actor, but in between the Mon-El / Kara relationship and the change in CatCo’s power structure, we haven’t seen all that much of him. Most of his scenes have been brief, or have revolved around Guardian.
Luckily, this is changing as we get closer to the end of the season. You’ve probably heard whispers that a big Jimmy story is coming, and you’ll get a chance to see that come May 8 with the installment entitled “City of Lost Children.” This is the episode that will feature young actor Lonnie Chavis of This Is Us fame in the role of a young boy named Marcus. This is a boy that is discovered in National City who James forges a tight bond with, and is desperate to protect him in the midst of a danger attack on the city.
As for who one of the main villains is in this episode, it’s a Phorian, someone who is typically known for being peaceful. They possess telekinetic powers, and one of the big questions almost right away is why this alien would be attacking the city at all given that there wouldn’t otherwise by much of a reason to. Phorians may be an original creation for the show, or an adaptation from something else in the comic world with a different name attached to them now.
If we had to put a theory on why this said Phorian is going after people in National City, it probably has a thing or two to do with the presence of Rhea (Teri Hatcher), our Big Bad for the season. Given her powers and her connections as a ruler in Daxam, it’s possible that she could have some sort of terrible blackmail, or the ability to make aliens do things that they would otherwise not want to in a million years.
