Law and Order: SVU season 18 spoilers – Barba’s big case in ‘Conversion’

As we get further and further to the end of Law & Order: SVU season 18, many signs at present indicate that Barba will get some spotlights. He’s had some good ones so far this season, and he will be the forefront once more in the May 17 installment “Conversion,” which brings you closer to the end of the season. (Following this one, the only stories left to tell is the two-hour finale, which will be comprised of two different installments.)

The big story, per NBC, that you are going to be seeing within this installment is Barba having to make a very difficult argument in court regarding the First Amendment. While this amendment may of course entitle you to make different rights within this world, it doesn’t give you a thumbs-up to go out and break the law to do whatever it is that you wish.

As for what gets him into this case in the first place, it will have to do with a young woman being raped by a member of her church group. We figure that the title here of “Conversion” is a reference to that in some way. There have certainly been headlines over the years tying religion to sexual assault, but this case seems to be based on something different than what you tend to see in the headlines. With that, we should say that we don’t think that this case is inspired by any one thing in particular.

Now that we know the bulk of the episodes that are coming on the air this season, it goes without saying that “Unstoppable,” the controversial episode based on a Donald Trump-like character, is not going to be airing this season. Maybe it is possible that you end up seeing this story play out
